Relocation happens. New job opportunities often move employees from one town to another. One member of the UPM sales team recently accepted an opportunity to relocate within our organization, departing from Cincinnati, Ohio, and settling in Houston, Texas.
Ian Moore joined United Performance Metals in 2012. After learning the ropes and making significant contributions in the marketing, business development and sales departments, Ian settled into a successful role as an account manager for the coil group. His time was spent primarily in our corporate office located in Hamilton, Ohio but Ian was also called upon to assist the sales group in our west coast facility in La Mirada, California.
Ian enjoyed experiencing another city, along with its sights, sounds, and beautiful weather. It wasn’t long before he was asked to spend time at UPM’s southwest facility in Houston, Texas. Open to relocation, a long-term opportunity for him in the southwest appeared to be ripe for the picking. And so this story goes – the Midwestern son became a Southern gentleman.
As for the actual move, Ian reported that it went about as smoothly as picking up your life and transporting it across country could go. The trip totaled 16 hours on the road, with a stop overnight in Texarkana, AR. Ian is now loving his new home and admits to being a fully-functioning Houstonian. You can hang your hat on it.
Next Move, Accross the Sea
As an update to this story, we're happy to report that in 2015, Ian relocated to the UPM international offices in Belfast, Northern Ireland. We are priviledged to have Ian's experience from all around the country, and now accross the sea. He is an asset to the UK team!
