Jim Sparks, CTL Assistant for United Performance Metals has every reason to be proud. His daughter, Holly recently graduated from Fairfield High School Cum Laude, with a 3.4 grade point average.
Holly spent her high school years hitting both the books and a soccer ball, playing the position of left defender. Holly has been on the soccer field since she was 4 years old. Her skills and dedication certainly paid off, as she has been awarded a scholarship to continue her passion at Indiana State University in Terra Haute.
Balancing sports and academics will be nothing new to Holly. She plans to pursue a degree in Anesthetics while attending the College of Health and Human Services. Holly is currently recovering from a recent surgery on both of her legs for ‘Compartment Syndrome’ but has no intention of letting it slow her down. “I have to start college in a wheelchair!” says Holly. “I’m hoping to recover in time to play as much as possible for my new team in the fall.”
Her father Jim has no doubts about her success. “Holly is very determined, and I know she’ll be playing again in no time. I’m proud of all her accomplishments – on and off the soccer field.”
