In a May 10th press release from the Ohio Award for Excellence (OAE), Hamilton, Ohio's United Performance Metals was announced as an award recipient in the Commitment to Excellence tier. The award that is patterned after the prestigious Malcolm Baldridge Award and is endorsed by Ohio Governor, Bob Taft, recognizes companies that have demonstrated a serious commitment to excellence and a process for continuous improvement.
"This is our first year to apply for the Ohio Award for Excellence. We are pleased that we have been recognized as a winner in the Commitment to Excellence tier. We have embraced a philosophy of continuous improvement that is driven by programs like 'The Road Map to Excellence' and ISO certification. We believe that participation in the Ohio Award for Excellence provides a yardstick to measure our progress," commented United Performance Metals' President, H. Wayne Ferguson.
The Ohio Award for Excellence has been in existence since 1998. The award criteria covers the areas of leadership, strategic planning, customer focus, information analysis, workforce development, process management and the organizational results achieved. United Performance Metals will be formally recognized at a conference in Columbus, Ohio September 16th-17th.
