Hamilton, Ohio - July 30th, 2009-- United Performance Metals recently announced Shannon Miranda and Natalia Carvalho as the recipients of its annual employee scholarship program. Scholarship recipients are selected based upon academic achievement and the recipient's responses to a written essay. The program which is provided for employee's spouses, children and grand-children highlights the company's commitment to education and higher learning.
Ms. Miranda is a graduate of McAuley High School and will be attending Ohio University - E.W. Scripps School of Journalism. She is the daughter of Raymond Miranda. Her current academic plans include a major in journalism and a potential minor in psychology. She also hopes to continue her involvement in volleyball by playing college intramurals.
Ms. Carvalho is a graduate of Mason High School and will be attending Duke University. She is the daughter of Pumma Carvalho. Her current academic plans include a major in Biomedical engineering. Her additional interests include playing the piano and running.
The recipients recently attended a United Performance Metals' management meeting where they were honored and awarded a scholarship check to be used towards tuition at their respective colleges.
